Switch Guide

How to Switch from Indio

Indio was acquired by Applied Systems in 2021. Since the acquisition, pricing has trended up and the platform increasingly serves the Applied Systems ecosystem rather than independent agents. If you are a standalone commercial agent looking to move to a more affordable intake platform, this guide covers the migration process step by step.

Why agents are leaving Indio
Price increases since the Applied Systems acquisition
Platform roadmap now prioritizes Applied Epic integration over independent agent features
Per-seat pricing becomes expensive as agencies grow
Required sales process and demo — no self-serve trial or self-service setup
Contract lock-in without flexibility for smaller books of business

Step-by-step migration guide

01
Export your client and submission data from Indio
Indio allows account managers to export client lists and submission history. Before canceling, export your full account roster including business class, contact information, and coverage history. If your account has ACORD forms on file, download them before the cancellation window closes — Indio's data retention policy after cancellation is limited. Ask your Indio customer success rep for a complete data export.
02
Note your contract renewal date
Indio contracts typically renew annually. Since Indio was acquired by Applied Systems in 2021, pricing and contract terms have shifted. Review your current contract for the notice period required to cancel — typically 30–60 days. Missing the notice window can lock you into another year's contract. If you are on a legacy pre-acquisition plan, confirm with Indio whether those terms have changed.
03
Set up AgencyAssist and recreate your intake templates
AgencyAssist has 29 industry-specific intake templates covering the commercial classes Indio typically handles. Create your account, add your agency branding, and select the templates for your most active business classes (GL, WC, contractors, restaurants, etc.). Your first intake link can be live in under 30 minutes — there is no implementation timeline.
04
Migrate active accounts and upcoming renewals first
Identify every account with a renewal in the next 90 days. Send renewal intake links through AgencyAssist immediately for these accounts. New submissions go straight into AgencyAssist from day one. Completed Indio submissions stay in Indio until their policy expires — there is no need to transfer historical data to the new system.
05
Verify ACORD form output matches your carrier requirements
After your first few AgencyAssist intakes, run the ACORD output against your carrier's submission requirements. AgencyAssist auto-generates ACORD 125, 126, and 130 from intake data. If a specific carrier requires supplemental forms or state endorsements, note these so you can attach them as supplements to your standard ACORD package.
06
Cancel Indio before your auto-renewal date
Submit cancellation in writing to your Indio account rep and request written confirmation. Keep a copy. If you are in the Applied Systems ecosystem (using Applied Epic or CSR24), confirm that the Indio cancellation does not affect those integrations before pulling the trigger.
